♦ Didact. Mélange azéotrope, formé de deux liquides, dont la distillation se fait à température constante et produit une vapeur de même composition que le mélange.

● azéotrope ou azéotropique adjectif et nom masculin (du grec dzein, bouillir) Se dit d'un mélange binaire de liquides, homogènes et de composition fixe, qui bout à une température constante. (Les courbes de rosée et d'ébullition passent soit par un maximum [azéotropisme négatif], soit par un minimum[azéotropisme positif].)
